Readers Block

This is a call for help. I had been reading Stephen's Donaldson's 'The First Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, the Unbeliever. A fine work indeed. But, I am presented with a grave problem. To my absolute dismay I find I am suffering from a disease i shall coin as Readers Block. Believe me such a bloody things exists. And I have it. And I am most aggrieved by the disrespect I am showing Donaldson and his fine work. By Zeus let there be a solution.

Craving D'Onofrio

February 28th 2007 13:44
: Vincent D'Onofrio
Vincent D'Onofrio

There is no denying D'Onofrio is one of those rare talents that surfaces every so often. His portrayal of Det. Robert Goren has to be one of the all time great thespian performances. Criminal Intent will be the sorrier for his departure.

I have watched one or two of the latter seasons episodes. For mine, D'Onofrio and Erbe are Criminal Intent. Reality is what reality is. Sorry folks shows over.

So now to the why of his departure. He says he wants to direct (this i am awaiting with inexorable anticipation), follow character roles when they arise and spend time with his kids (who wouldn't?).

Ok, so he doesn't want to be a leading man (Herald Sun Feb 28 2007). I say he was born to be one. This is a man who packed on the pounds to play private Pyle in Full Metal Jacket (at great risk to his own health). Ah Methodacting. Yes. But Vincent is more than just a character actor, he is the spit from the tongue, the tear from the eye, the loins from love, and the thought of concept. You will understand what I mean if you grant yourself the pleasure of a D'Onofrio performance.

I can promise you this - as Robert Goren he is as Sherlock was before him, a great master. Do yourself a favour, watch him. And then rewatch him. (Anti-thesis-Criminal Intent)

Full Metal Jacket I am yet to see, I shall rectify this oversight tomorrow. I owe myself that much and his rest. I have to have something to look forward to.

Happy Pursuits Vincent!

Apologies for the unfor

Mueck the Master

How Freaky Cool was the work of Mueck in the paper recently? I hadn't even heard of the man. But by Zeus, I remembered his name. And by Zeus, I remember the fine work of his two old ladies. This reaction prompted a further look into the man. It amazed me what i discovered. The man is bloodywell self taught. A lot of talent goes a long way. For goodness sake he even got to work on Labyrinth.

His hyper-real-works would just about have you reaching for a handshake or some other universal greeting.

Do yourself a favour and have a look at this man's work.

Enfant Terrible

: WRITING
I should feel more, I know. And that I... Don't. I stop myself short of some ugly self discovery. Knowledge is incumbent, always. I should feel...but I still have not stopped for her. Her illness. Her. It comes anyway. Discovering ugly truth is like eating bad food, it never sits well. Give me something sweet to nurture my impatient psyche. I cannot match time, it moves too swiftly. And she is always moving with it. 'Mother,' I want to say, but she is in the garden. And the steps are too many to make. 'Father,' I want to call, but my tongue has been torn from my brain...

No, don't wake yet. Not yet. You still have time, time for the sleep you never get. Quasi has no chime. There is still time before too much sound breaks over morning. Not yet, wait. Still time to dream the lost city into existance. Pan, your Reeds. I forget sometimes. Breakfast. No. Let them do it. The years have worked into their hands. Still time to break the line. Shower. No. The restrictions. That works well. Still time to rehumanise.

Enough with the blasted football people, the Ashes approaches, and that means it's time for CRICKETSPEAK.

Indeed the English fell in love last Ashes. Then who would blame them? No-one could deny the battle brilliance of Trescothick and Pieterson, or the cunning captaincy of Vaughan. But go past Flintoff as the crowned King, no-one would. It was with this man that the admiration was most evident. Performance speaks afterall
