Re-educating the Palate...

September 14th 2006 16:27
The re-education of the palate...it must begin.

What in the name of my palate is so difficult about grilling a steak, steaming vegetables and preparing a salad. Is it any wonder we could all turn to liquid feasts?

Thankfully (and my palate agrees with me) I know the worth of a feast.
Not quites juices of roast boar and ale down my chin feast, but wine and char-grilled asparagus over oven Barramundi for my pleasure.

I'm partial to a candle or two and Chet Baker.

I understand the convenience of fast food and tolerate it for that very point. But when I say tolerate, i mean driving to a required destination 20minutes out of the way to a Souvlaki shop because they understand the virtue of blending fast food mentality with the re-education of the palate.

I have to ask again, seriously what is so difficult about good food people?

Not all influence is immoral or perhaps it is. Either way Oscar Wilde you were a master of wit who understood the imporatance of dining.

It is time to unite against the dishonouring of your palates.

dying the happy death

September 13th 2006 12:26
When I was told Steve Irwin died, i had to ask - who is that?

'crocodile man'

The face in the shadow no longer in shadow, but nor was it Mona Lisa- portrait. Then I heard about Brock's death. The name and face familiar, but again no image burned to the retina.

Fame and feat mean nothing to death. He will continue to watch from his unseen hill playing his tune - we will all come to dance to his flute.

I will not say I mourn, for I do not. I leave that for the people who loved them. It is only theirs to claim.

Perhaps the stones should read - do not long grieve, for I died the happy death...and you must do the same.
