Goodbye Rafa, hello Federer...
As much as I adore Rafas looks, I appreciate the look of the game more. Im not sore regarding Rafaels early departure from the Open. Not too much anyway. I will miss the Spanish Bull, moving on because I digress. Heck, truth being told, who wouldnt want to see The Fed play Gonzo right now. I know I certainly want to see it.
Really, come off it, did you see some of Gonzos plays? From the brutal to the delicate he was the master craftsman. To sum up Gonzo when The Court Jester interviewed him, this three word phrase comes to mind: Im thinking now. So hes playing the game of chess. Just how far it will take him, well soon find out.
The real question has to be, how long can Gonzo go? History tells us that purple patches only stay purple for so long. Inevitability, finds its way into all things. That being the case the fade is sure to come.
Then of course enter the element of genius. Im talking more than a five minute X-factor. Im talking that which denies probabilities and inevitabilities. So the other question of note surely has to be, does he have it to match it with the man who does?
Enter The Fed. And enter Gonzos fade.
