The Cup Cometh
November 4th 2006 05:56
I read in the Herald Sun the other day that Derby Day is like Christmas for adults. What the heck is that supposed to mean? Christmas for...Ah who cares, the Cup Cometh. I thought the Diva's absence would leave me un-enthused, likewise my cynacism.
As much a I loved the Diva fairytale I could not shake the feeling of underhandedness. Then they start talking about Yeats. It gets better the hoop riding him is being investigated for fixing. So you can see there must be some grounds to my thought.
Anyway, what's a poet supposed to do...? Of course I have to have a little something on Yeats. But like years gone, and i should tell you last year I picked 1st, 3rd and 4th; I like to study a little. It will be no different this year.
I hear Yeats is a different sort of racing horse to the Diva. The Diva loved the swoop, it made for great watching. Yeats, he liketh front running. I guess it makes a nice change.
Yeats you are my poet's choice, but my studies will reveal the truth!

That was some Cox Plate at the 500/600m last year!
Anyway, as to picking him for the Cup, you couldn't really go past him, his formline suggested he was much better than that run. How do you leave out a horse who has won 6 from 8 and can stay?
On A Jeune - how was that one found?
